If the North Clyde line which runs under Queen Street were branded as a subway rather than heavy rail, we'd be able to definitively say we had the 2nd oldest subway in the world.

It predates any rail line running under an urban area anywhere, except for parts of the original Metropolitan line in London, some of which are now defunct.
