Yes it's completely fine. There's been nothing in that area for years but it's all been redeveloped since Barclays moved in. Even still it's mostly just warehouses and asian supermarkets.

Bridge street can be a bit shite at times but it's absolutely nothing to worry about.
There's a good pub nearby and you're a stones throw from the subway and the city centre.

The real question is why the fuck would you want to pay 1000/1400 a month for a 1 or 2 bed in Laurieston?

Much much better value for money elsewhere.
