Saying this willing to be told I'm wrong, but does anyone else think litter got worse when the bins got bigger? The current wheelie bin in a black tin can system doesn't appear to be working when so many are full to the gunnel.

During the recent strike, in the city centre it was easy to see where crap folk were binning was coming from thanks to branding: McDonalds, Costa, KFC etc. In my neighbourhood the big street bins are misused by businesses that should be arranging their own private refuse service and households using the street bins instead of or as well as their close bins.

Maybe shop owners need to be obliged to use the same private waste company as their neighbours, like how residents of a flat collectively work with one factor? It'd be a ball-ache and unfair to some, but it could streamline bin collections at your local shops and cut down on associated waste pile ups?
