This discussion has to be more nuanced than “student accommodation and international students are terrible” which are of course the prevailing narratives here. The issue is so much more complex than that. As you say, building student accommodation reduces competition for permanent housing stock and benefits the housing market for everyone except landlords. People here are unwittingly arguing for higher rents and richer landlords. |
