Everyone tends to use the southside because of the meteoric rise in prices as an example of this but I remember when flats in the West End started to come in at over 100k and the same arguments were made there.
It’s just a gentrification process that raises prices in peripheral areas that have a lot of demand from professionals, usually accompanied by trendy cafes, clubs restaurants etc…
Same as Shoreditch, Peckham, Salford (partially), Phibsborough, Leith & even Brooklyn.
All working class areas that have been priced out of the ordinary persons reach.
I’ve not personally seen any evidence that the southside will not follow this trend but time will tell. |
