Comment | I’m actually curious, what are people thoughts regarding the “Don’t Pay” campaign? Anyone signed up?
I was thinking about this since I work in the energy sector. I thought about cancelling my direct debit (I would still have the option to pay my bill manually so that I wouldn’t have a missed payment on my credit report). I know for a fact that having people on Direct Debit is a massively important KPI for energy companies, so cancelling that would definitely make them squirm. BUT I then realise my supplier is just an energy retailer, they don’t actually produce energy, so I wonder whether putting pressure on energy retailers would have the opposite effect, i.e.: if retailers go under, there’s less competition and that results in the same players getting more of the market share. On the other hand I wonder if this would increase pressure for government to intervene. So yeah…. I don’t have any conclusions to this in any way shape or form. Just wondering what people’s thoughts are. |
