Cambuslang, Newton, Halfway was Glasgow, Blantyre was Lanarkshire.
The councils changed about 1996 and the border moved to Prospecthill Road/ Edinbeg Avenue, Toryglen, and they all became South Lanarkshire, Rutherglen as well.
Before that, Maybe the 60s or 70s, Cambuslang was part of Lanarkshire, and the oldies still said they were "fae Lanark". You'd be hard pressed to find someone old enough that still said that, we all consider ourselves to be Glaswegians. |
