Hi there. I moved to Glasgow this year and haven’t had any issues as a big ol butch. But, it’s true. I have a coworker who has not had the same experiences. I truly believe it depends who you’re with, what part of town, and all that. West end. Around gay clubs, a-okay. I would just be weary of holding hands late at night (unfortunately) and if you think something is off about someone talking to you, kindly get away from that situation.

My coworkers, many being married hetero men, are surprisingly open. As long as you can take shite jokes the same as everyone else has to. Lol.

But during the day in Glasgow I wouldn’t worry at all. I feel completely safe in pretty much any part of town during daylight, and honestly most nights. So that’s a plus. And coming from the States, I have a lot of experience with being called “sir” and here, that happens a lot less-I’d say people are more curious here to know more about each individual. And yes, there are a lot of LGBT+ here.
