It's mad isn't it. I live in the South of England on £70k, moving to London soon for a pay rise. Even on a very respectable salary, it would be a true struggle to buy even a crap flat in London. I could be making maybe £20k less in Scotland and would probably have a better living standard with access to more mature and a bigger home.

It's all a balance - I'm so excited to be moving to London and it is a fantastic place for my career to really grow in my industry (law), but I am already getting worried that rent will eat up so much of my salary. Everything is very relative to where you are in the country.
