This is really subjective and depends on lifestyle/assets as this is the main driver here.

I work with a lot of people, many of whom are junior to me who send their kids to private schools in Glasgow and piss off skiing every winter etc..

Despite earning more/the same there is no way in hell I could ever do that.

It’s all down to the fact that they have paid off any mortgage they’ve had (if they had one at all) and inherited or were gifted money.

Whereas people like me who don’t come from that background have to get into major debt to get where they are.

Things like mortgages, car loans and student loans make it harder to achieve a good lifestyle for working people.

To be honest if you never had a mortgage/rent or student loans it wouldn’t just help your income now, it helps you build up more assets/investments quickly and so the cycle continues.
