My flat was 70 grand and my car isn't fancy. It wasn't a bad wage a few years ago. I genuinely saved up for 7 years. I also have had a few second jobs and done plenty of cash in hand work over the years which couldn't go to my mortgage affordability but did allow me to use cash and save my wages. So a bit of a fudged 22k. I'm quite tight and near gave up drinking for the 12 months prior to purchase. Honestly don't even know if it was worth the work. The one thing I would say though is I'll never ever ever complain about paying my mortgage because the graft it took to get here will never be forgotten.
