Would it be much more considerate to say Asian than to assume a more specific ethnicity/nationality? Take this post for example, you get the impression OP just assumed they're Chinese, when saying Asian would be less presumptuous.

The problem seems to stem from the English language lacking a useful descriptor, like black/white. It leads people to say Asian, even though Asian is a dreadful descriptor considering it tells us nothing - i.e. where white people all have one physical feature in common, the same can't be said for people from Asia.

Apologies if I'm being ignorant.
