The living life like is your best option immediately if you're not at risk of self harm, suicide or drug misuse.

If you ever experience a mental health crisis then call 999 - the police and NHS are both available and trained to handle immediate and serious breakdowns.

Scotland has a policy of open door access to mental health services. I'd still consult with your GP as they may be able to assist with immediate mood stabilising in the form of medication.

As someone who has been through the mental health process far too many times in my life the most important thing is talking with others about whatever you're experiencing. It's too often we try to keep our problems strictly to ourselves and medical professionals. If you have a support network make sure they know you are struggling. It's nothing to be ashamed of. If you don't have one already then there are many groups and places that are open to those struggling with periods of poor mental health.

Part of therapy and counselling will assist on how to express and examine what you're feeling and why you're feeling that way.

Don't struggle alone. It can feel isolating and lonely when you struggle from a period of poor mental health. I promise you're not alone. Don't feel ashamed and don't feel guilt over how you feel. Reach out to family and friends, take the time you need for yourself. Mental health is still health and never be afraid to take time away from work for yourself. If you're a student, your student union and institution should have its own mental health services or support network.
