It can be very frightening to start and feel like a chain around the mind and the soul, but things do get better once we find out how we can improve and adapt the things that drag us down.

We have a large number of services for mental health. It won't be a quick process, normally it's a slow and steady pace rather than a race to the finish line. But that also allows us the time to process and reflect (which will be a large part of CBT).

Remember that long journeys often have a few potholes and speed bumps along the way but it doesn't make the overall journey any less enjoyable. Its okay to not be okay. We all experience it throughout our lives, especially when younger and trying to find your foundation in life.

I was suicidal and self harming at 18. Now I live a perfectly happy life at 28. If there was one piece of advice I could give myself back then it is that life is full of many wonders and many joys and that the sun will always shine through the clouds eventually. I've been though the process. It can be hard. But it's worth it - you deserve to be happy and healthy.
