There is a shortage of drivers and this causes delays. What the OP is mentioning though is why are buses not tracked properly. Regardless of the driver situation it should be possible to accurately inform passengers where the next bus is on the route. This is not a new issue. It’s been going on for years. The whole system needs ripped out and replaced. It’s not always the fault of First as other agencies process the live timing information. It’s a totally not fit for purpose system. Once the bus has been programmed with its route and it has working GPS then it’s not rocket science to convey this info to waiting passengers. What also needs to happen is that when a bus breaks down or goes out of service for whatever reason then this is also properly conveyed rather than the remaining on the live timing screen as a phantom service. |
