I lost my mother to covid and generally I just don't care any more. Nothing good came of the early pandemic mentality; no groundbreaking sense of community continued; no appreciation for the NHS or social care. Nothing; no change in how we treat others or any greater appreciation of life.

Humans are fucking gross. For a species of such depth we've allowed ourselves to become automatons to the system. People all rushing back to work. No wage increases. Treating those who kept the country going like shit and just going back to the same stupid shit that we could have stopped from the break the pandemic gave us from the status quo.

Returning to normality actually did a lot more harm than good for me. Not because of the return to freedom or because I was especially fond of lockdown, but because when you were hopeful we could have had a new level of humanity working together and local communities being more connected to then see that fuck all has changed it really makes you wonder what the fucking point in life is when we've clearly lost the ability to evolve.

It's a constant reminder of how vapid people are when you've lost someone dear to you from a virus that people don't give a fuck about any more.

If it weren't for having some kind of path in life I'd likely just swallow the bullet and wrap the noose around my neck.

What's worse? Unlike other periods of mass trauma there is no massive show of grief. There are no mass wakes and ceremony of the grieving. Just expected to go back to normal and ignore the last two years.
