If the issues you are describing are because your brother is autistic, he’ll need you to accommodate him just as much as, if not more more than, trying to change him.
There are a few red flags in your post for me and I don’t feel 100% comfortable giving advice yet.
Talking about having “it”, behavioural therapy and treatment make it seem like you don’t really understand what autism is. The fact that it’s you here asking about it and not him, when you seem to have a negative view of autism, is worrying me… I’m not sure you’re seeking diagnosis for the right reasons. Hopefully you’ll explain why I’m wrong.
Being able to label him as autistic isn’t going to make the issues you describe magically disappear. It’ll just give you a possible reason for why those issues exist. It should help you to be more understanding of how/why he struggles. |
