They cannot prove you received the citation reminder, nor the original citation which you genuinely didn’t receive. You didn’t sign anything to say you received these. So if you just didn’t turn up then if it was ever questioned (which it wouldn’t be), a person could just claim they never received anything, and the court wouldn’t be able to say anything to that.
