I travel to London at least once a month to care for a family member.

Cheapest ways I've found are either using the [ticketysplit](https://www.ticketysplit.co.uk/) website (faff, but I got from here to there for £30 last week), occasionally flying is cheapest so worth checking but not often, megabus / flixbus are dirt cheap but you pay with your soul !

ticketysplit is usually the best option, it searches for seperate legs of your journey, so last week I went from London to leeds, leeds to carlisle, carlisle to glasgow, only waiting about 10 mins in between. megabus is good if you're in a bind as it is a bargain, but bring a pillow and prepare to feel like absolute shite for a day when you get there to recover. They've also gotten way less reliable over the last 6 months with more breakdowns and shortages like everything else. sometimes transport from edinburgh is way cheaper, so if you add in the cost of glasgow to edinburgh sometimes it's worth it too.
