Having moved here from the South of England and settled for about 5 years, the attitude of a lot of born and raised Glaswegians seems to reflect a bit of a negative echo chamber.

You can work a relatively normal job here and afford to live in an alright part of town, go out on your days off, eat out and have a social life. Having all of this isn’t possible for someone in London unless they’ve got tons of money behind them to get them started. Otherwise you’re on the arse end of the overground living in a shitty flat with 8 other people and your room is a broom cupboard. Want to escape your flat and see your mates who live on the other side of town is a trek that would be like going from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

I’ve known a couple of folk who’ve moved down to London with notions of Glasgow being a backward midden of a place and have returned proven wrong. Sure, the council are crap and public transport is lacking in comparison to other places but things are definitely on the up!
