In Scotland school places at state schools are determined by where you live. Each child gets offered a place at a “non denominational” school (church of Scotland in practice) or catholic school and you pick one. There is an option to refuse your place and ask to be placed in another school but that is risky and not guaranteed. The other school option is to pay for private schooling and there are a few of them around the city.
For secondary schools there is also a league table which can provide some information - to be taken a large dose of common sense and a big pinch of salt. |
