I'm from Paisley originally (maybe that is the problem) and yes, there are literally no shops anymore except tat stores and pound shops. There's nowhere you can buy a suit for a job interview in Paisley Town centre anymore, for example. It's depressing, but it's not uncharacteristic for other towns and cities as the focus now moves to hospitality. There are loads of new pubs, restaurants and cafes that have popped up in Paisley over the last five years or so. People are leaving Glasgow for an easier pace of life in Paisley so things are happening.

That being said, I looked at the price of rent in Paisley earlier this week and it's horrific. £700 for a two bed in the town was unthinkable two years ago. Fuckin hipsters gentrifying the place.
