| Comment | As others have said, contact the likes of Clyde Marine. Done my cadetship with them 30 years ago and they're still on the go to this day so they know a thing or 2 about it. I was an Engineer but if you're set on joining the dark side then they do Deck cadetships as well.
If it still works the same way it did back then you'll be sponsored by a company (in my case Mobil shipping) who you'll do your sea time with as you work towards your first ticket.
I wouldn't bet on becoming a Captain of anything substantial until you've got at least 20 years experience through the ranks under your belt though. Best of luck if you go ahead with it. |
