Yup, there was a period of the 00s where I think they perfected Glasgow’s road layouts, we had the grid, the one way system had just come in and there was plentiful parking.

Then they decided we needed bus gates pedestrian streets & cycle lanes everywhere.

Roundabouts work in some circumstances, the bullring in Greenock is one, where commuter traffic on the A8 is separated from the town centre infrastructure below, and obviously on large high flow roads like motorways.
