I shat it and just paid for new wooden ones but plenty of people get away with “fake” wooden sash windows that look the part and are actually upvc.

Also, if you have shitey old case windows already then it’s usually way cheaper to get them refurbished. They can usually add slimline double glazing as well. Apparently that’s actually better as the “old growth” wood they used back then is way stronger and durable.

I hate that I know this much about windows.. zzzz
