The whole idea of remembrance day has become a weird fetishisation of the military. To be fair "In Flanders Fields" really doesn't deserve to be held in the same regard as the war poems of Sassoon or Owen as it gets a bit warmongering at the end.
Suicide in the Trenches seems a lot more apt in my opinion. |
