| Comment | So I've been there a good few times, the bingo/shoot out is good fun, everyone there is lovely and the booze is far too cheap
Think my two best memories there have to be the two most different gigs you could probably go to.
First I saw Joanna Newsom in there, now to say I was slightly in love with her at the time would be a massive understatement. She was amazing, though there was one lad who was eccied out his nut and have a whole party on his own, which didn't really fit the vibe, also she commented that she'd be pretty scared to be in a venue decorated like that in the USA.
Second was Lightning Bolt, the support was an old Glasgow band called Gay Against You who were utterly mental and handed out cupcakes during their set, most people refused them as they probably thought they were laced with what ever made G.A.Y act like the way they were. During the Lightning Bolt set (they play in the middle of the crowd if you don't know) Alex Kapranos was standing on the stage, enjoying the show but definitely not wanting to be involved in the madness that was going on near the band. I got to play the infamous old game of touch the symbol during the Lightning Bolt set and I doubt my hearing will ever be the same. |
