I’m honestly so sick of people saying ‘Don’t go to A&E’ like all of these comments.

I agree that people shouldn’t be going for minor injuries, but 99% of the time when you call 111 it takes forever to get through to them.

Last year I had mental health problems and harmed myself. My mum called 111 to ask for help and to get advice, she called at around 11pm and we didn’t get to speak to someone until 4am. In that space of time I could have bled to death, harmed myself again or even killed myself.

The staff on 111 are the most unpleasant people I’ve ever had to speak to. My mum told them that she would speak on my behalf, and I would give verbal consent about this. The operator told her that he *must* speak with me, despite the fact I was uncomfortable talking to him. He told me that ‘We all feel crap sometimes but we don’t do this because we’re not idiots’ and made me feel worse than what I did before calling.

So, ignore all of these comments and ditch the idea of ever calling 111. Go to A&E.
