In the UK it’s common to get a previous landlords reference, it’s very abnormal in other countries I have lived so your current landlord may not be familiar with what to write.
Most don’t want students in the first place, even less a foreign student. Those landlords that will rent to students typically require a UK guarantor, which we obviously don’t have. Alternatively they ask for like a years rent up front and if you point out that the legal limit is 6 months, boom you don’t get the flat. |
