I had a mouse infestation in my place when I first moved in. In my experience, the commercial humane traps are all rubbish. I had the most luck making my own out of a ramp, a ruler, some peanut butter, and a tall bucket.

The ramp can be anything as long as the mouse can climb it (I used a small pile of old clothes). Put some peanut butter on the end of the ruler and balance it on the lip of the bucket and the ramp, with the peanut butter end hanging over the middle of the bucket. The mouse has to 'walk the plank' to get the peanut butter, and falls in the bucket. If the bucket is tall enough, the mouse can't jump out again. It takes a few attempts to get the ruler balanced correctly (I found a few mice had figured out how to get the peanut butter without falling in), but I had more success with this than any other trap.

Bear in mind that the mice will always find a way in now that they're established in your flat. As well as catching them, it's a good idea to go looking for places where they get in and filling up any gaps with wire wool (and then going over that with some polyfilla). That's kept them out of my place for at least 4 years now*.

Good luck!

*this might also be because I now have a cat, but I'm reluctant to give that fucker any credit.
