It's wild, I've had a shit week but one person saying "you know, SP, you do such a good job here" and I was just completely disarmed.
I once had a student I never spoke to leave me a card because that year I set up experiments for a summer school, and he wanted me to know that it was appreciated. I still have the card in my desk about ten years later. I hope he's doing well.
