| Comment | We provide fire blankets in all our rental properties and have one in our own home but not fire extinguishers. Blankets are so cheap to buy and simple to use, that it seems daft not to have them. However, fire extinguishers are vulnerable to misuse, need regular maintenance and, ideally, adequate training for use. As a landlord, I don't want the expense of the inspection and maintenance or the liability if a tenant is injured misusing equipment i provided.
If you're worried, a fire blanket costs <£10 but always worth asking your agency/landlord - if only to try and prompt them into providing them as standard in future. |
