I don't know if this will help but I try to keep the heating off for as long as possible so clothes do take ages to dry. During the winter months I tend to wash my clothes and take what I can to the tumble dryers at the launderette every two weeks or so. I usually leave it for about 45mins to 1hr and it costs £5.50. It means anything that can't be tumble dried can be spaced out more on the clothes horse so air can circulate round it and dry it more quickly.

This may be an option you can't afford, but I thought I would suggest it. It saves me putting my heating on to dry big things like towels and bedding, which still take days to dry and then smell damp.
