Comment | I'm not sure that the Lord Provost can be categorised as the highest ranking politician. The position of Lord Provost is ceremonial. Their job is simply to convene the council and do some ribbon cutting. I've always thought of the Lord Provost as like the Monarch's representative to the Council. Sombody to open a new Tescos when the Queen/King is too busy.
The actual highest ranking politician would be the Leader of the Council, which is Susan Aitken (SNP). |
