You seem like a reasonable human being and you don't want to be pissing your neighbours off. I applaud that. I'd be the same but we all know a cunt when we come accross one.

You may not be as vindictive as me lol but, you say they got a child. Start banging on the floor when their child is loud.

It's annoying for you but I know your main concern is your kids hearing them and what effect it may have on them. I've been through something similar myself recently. It's heartbreaking.

If I was you. I'd explain that your downstairs neighbours are not nice people and get your kid involved. Any time you hear noise from their flat, the same level they do from you, I'd make it a game, start banging on the floor. Let your kid know that they have done nothing wrong by just existing. Could be a good lesson for them about bad people.

I would also knock right on their front door one time when they knock and ask what is going on?

Try to explain that they have a kid you can hear too, doubt that will work but let them know that no matter how much they knock you will not 'silence' your child!

You've done your best, got the rug, all that you can do. Don't feel bad for telling them to fuck off.
