At Christmas time the bosses pay for a night out and the rest of the staff might do a secret santa amongst themselves (sometimes the managers as well) but singling out one person, boss or not, is ridiculous.
Send out a company wide email saying you want a tenner from the bosses for your christmas present and see how well that goes down.
