The West End was expensive even before the rising cost of living. You could maybe manage it if you flat shared. Depends on what hours you work for a hospitality gig.
My personal biased recommendation would be to look into the Southside. Pollokshaws, Govanhill, Strathbungo, Battlefield or that. The rental market is more affordable and the areas are decent.
