| Comment | The Europeans were motivated enough to get up, move to Glasgow, Scotland and the UK and get a job. Why is it that they managed to do so when the folk in the dole office couldn't find jobs on their doorstep? Carrot and stick.The Europeans either wanted the money to buy holidays and gifts (carrot) or they wanted to be able afford to buy food, water and a home (stick). Either way, hundreds of thousands of Europeans managed to get work here in a far off country with a foreign language. Why haven't more English speaking locals? The benefits system is a blessing for the genuinely needy and unfortunate, and a curse to the lazy. The unemployed die a little inside with every passing day, more need to leave their fears at the door, get uncomfortable giving up their free time to get money and skills, and live a life. We weren't born on this planet to rot away in homes, pubs and William Hill. |
