Ben Lomond is a nice simple walk, also +1 the other recommendation of the cobbler.

Use the above to plan the walk + budget time, make sure you download the .gpx files and can view the route + your location without an internet connection, make sure you are fully charged + have spare charge.

Check the weather, the actual mountain weather (metoffice gives better forecasts but mountain-forecast is easier to read)

I would recommend poles in any weather, cheap ones are perfectly fine, having extra points of contact on the ground means less likely to fall) microspikes are handy if its going to be particularly icy
