I don't mind the cold but it's -8 with a freezing fog. So much colder than you will have experienced a few weeks ago. Also the constant rain and damp over winter really effects some people. There is very little sunlight in Scotland in autumn and winter it's starting to get dark at 3.30pm at the moment which some people even those born to it can find depressing. In contrast in summer it only gets dark for a few of hours at night so from 11pm till 3am. This can affect people's sleep, so black out blinds are a must for many.

The summer here is also very wet usually and can get really hot. The combination of high humidity and high temperatures (for Scotland) is really uncomfortable and my own least favourite time of year here, I'll take freezing fog over that any day! I'm used to the weather here and don't mind the cold but the constant rain, dampness and humidity are annoying.
