Hello! I work in an outdoor shop here in Glasgow on the higher end of the scale, while the things we sell are of excellent quality and materials, you don’t NEED them to have a good time outside. I have found that the majority of the basics can be found at almost any retailer including primark, H&M, mountain warehouse etc.

If you are looking to splurge on 1 or 2 main things that make the biggest difference, a good waterproof shell jacket with a rating of at least 15,000mm is a good shout, as well as a good mid thickness insulating layer (feather down or synthetic both have their pros and cons).
