When I first lived in Poland I noticed pretty much every property had radiators under the windows. Thought it was odd, as above, that they would put heaters somewhere that would lose loads of heat, but never said anything because, well, they know winter better than me! So interesting to realise it stops humidity, which I suppose has a knock on effect of better warming.
