I really hate it when you open Edge or generally any big news outlet these days and it's all just negativity and doom and gloom. Like i know fear sells/ catches attention but its just really depressing. At least you can turn it off in Edge, but it always re-enables itself after an update. I'd just use Chrome or Firefox instead which doesn't have a news section on start up.
