The main problem is not high gas priced. The main problem is fucked up marginal pricing model used to set wholesale energy price. The price is based on the most expensive production method - rapid gas in our case. So we can have 95% of renewable energy and only 5% gas but the price for kwh it will be set by gas generation. I honestly don't understand how this can be beneficial for consumers but apparently it somehow is (in normal circumstances).
