Hi there, I didn't know about the welfare department offering shopping vouchers, I'll be honest that would help us out a lot so I'll look into that.

My mum died last year in February, she was my dad's full time carer and I offered to take over. My dad isn't ready for a care home, the only thing wrong with him is his mobility and breathing, he doesn't have dementia or any cognitive issues and he doesn't want to leave his home for a care home so I'll never force him to do it. If it was the other way around and I was the one who needed full time care, he would do it for me. My sister gets support from school & other groups, but her disability isn't one that would need her to move out. She helps around the house and stuff, she'll probably never live an independent life though.

Don't want to embarass my dad but you're right about the state providing limited resources, that's why I'm now paying out of pocket for things!

Next step I guess is to contact the council and see what they can offer.
