I guess it represents southern states where country music was born.
It’s only a relatively recent thing that people are associating it with all the negative side of the confederacy but imo that’s a unfair portrayal. The people fighting weren’t fighting to keep slaves as most of them were poor farm workers. They were fighting for the right of their state to exist and make their own laws. I can see why the US is threatened by the flag as it also represented a real risk to their own existence so they have tried to undermine it any time it appears now.
I recommend watching Civil War by Ken Burns to understand the confederacy beyond the negative flag stories. |
