| Comment | i wouldn't bet on it. i hit a pothole and came off my bike. broke both my arms (3 bones in left arm, 2 in right) and it also caused a lot of damage to my bike. i always heard making a claim with the council was hard but god damn it.
i made a claim and got the email saying "we have received your claim, here is the reference number" 2 month later i called up about it. they "lost" my claim and i had to re-submit it (luckily i saved a copy) 2 months later, i'm told the claim has been dropped because "not enough evidence was given" despite me giving them x-rays, doctors notes, the contact details of 2 police who seen it happen (who were nice enough to see to me and help me get back up the road) and the bike shop who had to repair my bike (to help me claim repairs)
i had to contact my MP and ask them to re-open the case. they did. 2 weeks later i was told they investigated the pothole (which was 3" deep) and there was no way the pothole could have caused the accident and it was my fault for not using the cycle lane on that road...... which you can't use because there's always parked cars in it.
i was told if i wanted to claim back damages, i'd have to lawyer up but after dealing with that shit, it turned me off dealing with the council for life. |
