It'll take a couple of days work but you'll need to clear out the room and no matter how much dust sheets they put down there will still be a mess left. Even though a fireplace already exists they might need to widen it to fit your stove. The whole process at it's cheapest will probably be about 3k.

You will also need to think about where you can store the wood as buying small bags is costly and you're better ordering large bags of wood.

Every woodburner has to be an ecodesign now and there's no plan to ban these as yet but that might change. The companies providing them say it won't as they are meeting the new guidlines but governments and policies change.

Yes they have particle polution but if you are only using it every now and then I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't make it your main source of heat.

When I was looking at flats, a few had wood burning stoves but I couldn't see where they kept the wood logs and looked like they had barely been used.
