OP, I think you should do as someone else said and go with a box of chocolate to explain your situation; lean into the "mom had cancer and we live abroad, the kids have not seen their grandparents in a long time" (chances are they are far away from family too; especially if they do not celebrate Christmas and go back to their families during the winter break, they are likely to be Asian, from my own experience as a student and tutor at Glasgow Uni). They might just give you a break with the noise; if they do not understand, that's too bad, but they should know the university library is empty at this time of the year and they can have all the quiet they want to study over there from 7:15am to 2:00am. |
