I finally had Scottish Gas come over to check my broken boiler, inspect the house and give a quote for replacement.

Almost fainted when the quote came to £6000. This includes asbestos check and possible removal. And nothing can be done for at least 2 weeks.

A few months ago, I was proud to finally be living the dream as a 1st time homeowner. Now I'm just so depressed and regret it all.

I'm going to buy some portable oil/electric heaters and ride out the holidays and pray we don't experience another winter storm like last week's.
